IFAM News:

SANTA FE — The 18th International Folk Art Market (IFAM) will welcome artists and guests to Museum Hill in Santa Fe, July 6-10, and more than 1,800 volunteers from around the country will help bring this year’s event to life.

IFAM leadership is planning for approximately 16,000 visitors this year; an increase from 2021’s 9,000 (due to COVID restrictions). Along with visitors, there will be more than 150 artists, from 49 different countries, displaying and selling their creations from around the world.

“We look forward to once again hosting thousands of visitors at Museum Hill this year. Our team focuses on providing a superior experience to all attending the IFAM and we realize how integral volunteers are to this process,” said Francesca Glaspell, IFAM Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator.

Returning volunteers began registering in March, but new volunteers will be able to register beginning at 5 p.m. MDT, April 13 through a separate online form. There are more than 30 volunteer teams to choose from, all catering to a variety of interests and talents. Available volunteer team categories include: production, cashiers, front of house and market hosts, markets signs, market greeters, interpreters, handypersons, and many more. For a full list of volunteer opportunities and to register, visit the IFAM volunteer webpage.

Besides traditional roles during the July event, organizers are also seeking assistance in June at the Dallas Market Center, where a group of IFAM artists and staff will travel to promote the market in Santa Fe and display the artists’ work.

Volunteers who are seeking a new experience this year should inquire about Night Market. Night Market is new to IFAM and is a lively 3-hour event held Saturday, July 9, featuring global music and shopping.

While most volunteers are local, every year IFAM welcomes volunteers from all over the country. Volunteers receive a name badge and complimentary t-shirt, have access to the volunteer hospitality tent and volunteer parking shuttle, as well as entry to the market.
