Community Invited To Tour County Water Systems Tour
COUNTY News:
The community is invited to take a tour provided by Los Alamos County on Friday, July 10 to learn all about how water makes the journey to local faucets.
The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., starting at the Water Production Division office at the Pajarito Cliffs Site that includes a visit to the water system control room for an overview of SCADA and seeing remote monitoring of a very large system in real time.

Los Alamos County (LAC) Clerk’s Office has completed the required accuracy check—known as the Post-Election Audit—of the tabulation systems used during the June 2, 2026 Primary Election. The audit was conducted June 24, 2026, at the County Clerk’s Warehouse in the Los Alamos Municipal Building.

The 4th of July is almost here, and Los Alamos County is ready to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. This year’s 4th of July Spectacular will take place 4-10 p.m. Saturday at Overlook Park in White Rock.

County: Bear-Resistant Roll Carts In High Demand—More On Order, Register Now

The Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division (ESD) is experiencing an increase in interest and requests for bear-resistant roll carts. Due to the recent high demand, the County expects the current inventory to be exhausted within the week. A new order of bear-resistant roll carts has been placed with an estimated delivery time of 1 to 2 months.

As of July 1, 2026, Los Alamos County will implement a 0.625% increase in the County’s Gross Receipts Tax (GRT), raising the rate from 7.0625% to 7.6875%. This adjustment was approved by the County Council on October 28, 2025, through Ordinances No. 747 and No. 748.

- 0.1250% North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) increment

Curbside Collection Schedule
- If your regular collection day is Thursday, July 2, 2026, there is no change to your refuse and brush collection. Please place your carts at the curb as you normally would.

Los Alamos County Seeks Community Input On Proposed Plastic Bag Ordinance Under Consideration By Environmental Sustainability Board

Los Alamos County is seeking community input on a proposed Single-Use Plastic Carryout Bag Ordinance currently under consideration by the Environmental Sustainability Board (ESB).
Community members can submit their input in person at the July 16 ESB meeting, or via email. The ordinance is intended to reduce litter, decrease waste sent for disposal, encourage reusable alternatives, and support broader sustainability efforts within the community.

Atomic City Transit will provide free shuttle service for the Los Alamos County 4th of July Spectacular event at Overlook Park in White Rock this coming Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
Continuous shuttle service will be provided to the event from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. from the Lemon Lot (Diamond Drive & Canyon Road in Los Alamos), the White Rock Visitor Center (115 NM-4), and Piñon Elementary parking lot (90 Grand Canyon Drive in White Rock). Service will pause from 9–9:30 p.m. and begin again at 9:35 p.m. following the drone show, with the last bus leaving Overlook Park at 10:30 p.m.
