UNM-LA Career Development Series Begins Oct. 16

UNM-LA News:

UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) is launching a new career development series titled “A Day in the Life Of …”. The six-week series will introduce speakers from various career backgrounds.

The series is 2-3 p.m. Thursdays, starting Oct. 16 and ending Nov. 20, in room 203 on the UNM-LA campus as well as via Zoom. Community members are welcome to attend.

New Mexico State Police Ofc. Antonio Herrera will speak on Oct. 16. He graduated from the 85th New Mexico State Police Academy in June 2013, starting his career at District 11 in Socorro. Over the years, he’s had the opportunity to serve in various roles and develop a wide range of skills with the New Mexico State Police.

“I’m now eager to help you build a successful and rewarding career with New Mexico’s finest. As a recruiter for the New Mexico State Police, I am enthusiastic about the role I can play in shaping the future of the agency,” Ofc. Herrera said. “I chose to align myself with the New Mexico State Police because I wanted to be part of the best. I am proud to uphold the agency’s tradition of honor and commitment to the citizens we serve, working towards a brighter future for our community.”

  • Oct. 23: Mario Velardi, LANL mechanical engineer;
  • Oct. 30: Speaker TBD, Los Alamos Fire Department;
  • Nov. 6: Rangers Jordan Ray and Adam Dean, Valles Caldera National Preserve;
  • Nov. 13: Susie Edwards, RN, and Elizabeth Ortega, RN, LA Visiting Nurses; and
  • Nov. 20: Josh Springer and Matt Schmidt, Los Alamos Schools Credit Union.
