Staff Report
In its final quarterly charitable dinner event of 2025, 100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos gathered Nov. 6 at the Los Alamos Posse Lodge. As the first of three local nonprofits to present to the group, Mesa to Mesa Executive Director Jon Bulthuis shared the needs of his organization with those gathered.
Mesa To Mesa:
- Mission: Bring people together to improve the health, safety and security of low income homeowners in Northern New Mexico by performing minor repairs to their homes, facilitating larger repairs by means of referrals and collaborations, and providing home maintenance education;
- Vision: Mesa to Mesa will improve the health, safety, and security of homeowners in Northern New Mexico by bringing together volunteers to complete modest home repairs for people who lack the money and the ability to make the repairs themselves. Homeowners and volunteers will work together to help each other, forging understanding and positive relationships.
- Action: It all starts with an application to Mesa to Mesa. Homeowners can fill out a basic application and submit it for approval through a quick selection process. Selection is based on the complexity of the repair, income of the homeowner, and the availability of a local contractor to do the job.
Mesa To Mesa was selected and received $3,900 in donations.
The Family YMCA for its Senior Appreciation Night program, and the League of Women Voters rounded out the three nonprofits making presentations at the Nov. 6 event.
100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos Volunteer Steering Committee Member Angela Bratton served as emcee for the event and thanked the Posse Lodge for providing the venue and Los Alamos Cooperative Market for the food.
Along with Bratton, the Volunteer Steering Committee consists of Carol A. Clark, Janet Lovato, Diana Martinez and Jennifer Wetteland. They thanked the generous sponsors that have made these quarterly charitable gatherings possible, including Enterprise Bank & Trust, TechSource, Exit Realty Advantage NM, Kristy Ortega/ReMax, and the Credit Union Cooperative of Los Alamos Schools Credit Union, Del Norte Credit Union and Zia Credit Union. The Volunteer Steering Committee also thanks the many generous women in the community who attend the quarterly events to help support the important work of local non-profit organizations.
100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos quarterly charitable dinner events are open to all women. The event includes a free sponsored dinner, and in turn, attendees open their checkbooks to donate to a selected local non-profit organization. Ideally, 100 Women donating $100 creates a $10,000 donation for the selected nonprofit. This group was founded in August 2015, has granted more than $100,000 to benefit dozens of local non-profit organizations.
Applications for nonprofits to be considered for donations are accepted on an ongoing basis. Click here for an application and additional information.
The first quarterly charitable dinner event of 2026 is scheduled for February 2026.
Last quarter’s donation recipient, Dr. Prisca Tiasse, the founder and president of Los Alamos Makers, reports on the positive impact the funding had on her nonprofit organization. Learn more about Los Alamos Makers at www.losalamosmakers.org. Carol A. Clark/ladailypost.com
