PEEC: Snow Forecasting With Julien Ross In Planetarium

PEEC News:

The community is invited to join Julien Ross, OpenSnow.com’s New Mexico Forecaster, 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Los Alamos Nature Center Planetarium (in-person and virtual).

Hosted by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), this free event will share the 2025–2026 winter outlook, including the impacts of a weak La Niña or “La Nada” on snowfall.

Attendees will learn snow forecasting techniques, discover which storm patterns bring the best powder, and explore snowfall trends in the Jemez, Sangre de Cristo, and San Juan Mountains.

Ross will also answer questions and highlight new OpenSnow tools for tracking storms.

About Ross:

Julien Ross grew up in Santa Fe and has been skiing since age seven. He studied meteorology at Northern Arizona University and is entering his sixth season as the New Mexico Forecaster for OpenSnow.com, combining a lifelong passion for snow with expert weather forecasting.
