Santa Fe Community College Announces Respiratory Care Open Houses For Prospective Students Beginning Aug. 27

SANTA FE—Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) announces Respiratory Care open houses, 1-3 p.m. on Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 22 and Dec. 7 in Room 433 at the college.

The open houses give prospective students the opportunity to meet Respiratory Care program faculty and staff, check out SFCC’s state-of-the-art training equipment and to learn about the many career opportunities for respiratory therapists in New Mexico. The open houses are in SFCC’s Health and Science Center, 6401 Richards Ave. 87508.

Applications for the Respiratory Care program are open through Dec. 11 and can be accessed at https://www.sfcc.edu/programs/respiratory-care/. The Spring 2027 Respiratory Care classes begin Jan. 4, 2027.

“The faculty and staff are eager to talk with prospective students about the many career opportunities in New Mexico for respiratory therapists,” said SFCC Academic Director of the Respiratory Care program Sarah Rodriguez. “We’re glad to answer questions about the program or application process.”

SFCC’s Respiratory Care program is a great fit for individuals interested in getting into a fast-paced, in-demand career in the health care field. Santa Fe Community College’s Respiratory Care program prepares students to become a respiratory care practitioner, a specialist in assessing and treating people with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, respiratory therapists in New Mexico earn an annual median salary of $70,780 (as of May 2024). Additionally, the job market for respiratory therapists in New Mexico is projected to grow 24% from 2022 to 2032.
