A plane crashed this morning in Los Alamos Canyon south of Los Alamos County Airport. Deputy Fire Chief Justin Grider spoke with the Los Alamos Daily Post a few moments ago and explained the situation.

“A witness saw the plane coming in at about 8:10 a.m. and saw it veer off and crash into the canyon,” Grider said. “There are an unknown number of victims on the plane.”

Grider explained that Los Alamos County Fire Department crews are on the scene, which has been sealed off.

“The FAA has been notified and are on their way and will be investigating the crash,” Grider said, adding that the identity of anyone on the plane is unknown at this time.

The Federal Aviation Administration is the first responder in all plane crash cases and the overall governing body is the National Transportation Safety Board.
