Los Alamos County Public Works Director Philo Shelton presented Council Tuesday evening with his FY2015 proposed budget of $22,614,254 and his projected FY2016 budget of $22,923,067. The Public Works Department’s FY2014 Adopted Budget is $21,924,891.
The Public Works Department encompasses Transit, Fleet/Equipment, Environmental Services, Traffic & Streets, Engineering /Surveying and the Airport.
Shelton explained to Council the significant changes and impacts to his department including:
- He gained five full time employees who moved over from Capital Improvement Projects to his Engineering and Surveying operating budget;
- Traffic & Streets eliminated one full time employee – a Senior Office Specialist and 0.73 full time employees;
- The Airport eliminated 0.58 FTEs casual temps;
- Transit reduced 1.92 FTEs limited term drivers for Bandelier;
- Environmental Services consolidated positions and reduced one full time employee; and
- Through the merger of the Transportation and Traffic Divisions, Traffic & Streets eliminated 17 pieces of equipment.
