AWA News:
Work by highly regarded artist Betty Nance Smith of Los Alamos will be featured in the American Women Artists 17th Annual Member Show and National Juried Competition Exhibition.
As American Art Collector Magazine recently observed, AWA members are “women of distinction,” representing some of the very best painters and sculptors working today. The Addison Art Gallery is pleased to have been chosen to present this important show that you can now preview by clicking here.
Betty Nance Smith paints obscure and obvious beauty through still life. The local farmer’s market, celebrated in this painting, is a gold mine for subject matter. After a tragic wildfire celebrating life became her career theme.
This New Mexican native is a signature member of Oil Painters of America. Her talent has also been showcased by AWA’s Nationals, Salon International and Audubon National Exhibitions. Smith’s painting, Daffodil Hope, was featured in a Southwest Art cover story.
Smith’s beginnings in nature art evolved into still life and figurative pieces. Her realistic seascapes have been featured in California’s Décor magazine. Smith’s paintings have been in Galleries in New Mexico, California and
Colorado. Her work can be seen in New Mexico’s Art Hotel, La Posada in Santa Fe.
There will be an artists’ reception 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Addison Art Gallery, 43 Route 28 (South Orleans Road). To reserve work or for more information, call 508.255.6200.
