Kevin Russell with his uke. Courtesy/shinyribs.orgI imagine that you get feedback from time to time that you missed a dynamite Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series show.
Tonight with the Shinyribs will be a tremendous show that is not to be missed. The venue is Ashley Pond and the show starts at 7 p.m. The weather is iffy but the show will go on. We’ll have some extra tents out and, again, a Shinyribs night is truly amazing.
Tonight’s concert at the pond is sponsored by Holiday Inn Express, Los Alamos Co-op Market and the NM Consortium. Before the concert, we’ll be a part of the www.losalamosendurofest.com weekend – check out the website. Children are asked to bring their bikes for a couple of “Kid Races” 6–7 p.m. when the Shinyribs take the stage.
The Shinyribs are, according to their website (www.shinyribs.org), a “Hip shaking, belly laughing, soul-singing, song-slinging, down-home house party” that entertains like no one else. They are an offshoot of the legendary Texas band, the Gourds, with Kevin Russell as the guitarist, uke player and lead singer of both bands.
Please check out their website and, especially check them out on youtube. Again, we can wait out any bad weather, because Kevin Russell and the Shinyribs will play the Pond tonight.
