I’m sure I am speaking for many people when I say that I am angered and disappointed by the recent graffiti activity around White Rock.
My husband and I chose to find our first home in White Rock because of the safety and security it provides. This nightly behavior is frightening, especially since I found graffiti on my electrical box in the front yard of my home. That is too close for comfort. Who’s to say they won’t take matters further?
I walk, bike, and/or drive through the vacant shopping center daily, as most White Rock residents do, and I see new graffiti daily. Even today, I spotted new damage. There is now white graffiti in the roads, on sides of buildings, and even under the black graffiti, as a kind of communication between the assailants.
Why isn’t something being done about this? New graffiti every day? That means the criminals are returning to the scene of the crime! They are damaging personal property! I’m sure it won’t take too much effort to catch these punks in the act.
I’m sure many may respond by saying kids are kids (if they are kids), and that they’ll grow out of it. I’m sure we know and understand that youngsters get bored around here because there “isn’t much to do.” But marking up personal property, damaging the image of our community, and thinking that they’re getting away with it is not acceptable. It is ridiculous and shameful.
I see the word “SAD” spray painted in various areas. You know what? It’s “SAD” that this is happening. It’s “SAD” that personal property is being damaged. It’s “SAD” these people don’t have respect for our community. And it’s “SAD” that nothing is being done about it.
