Palo Alto … Boston … Houston … Los Alamos. That’s right, Los Alamos. Innovation-led economies have created sustainable, prospering economies which continue to change how we interact with technology, or bring new medical devices or vaccines to market, or technology to improve how we meet the world’s energy needs.

So why is Los Alamos in this select company?

Well, at noon Oct. 24 during a public presentation at Fuller Lodge, Los Alamos Venture Accelerator (LAVA) founder Nicholas Seet will reveal the next phase of LAVA’s plan to continue Los Alamos ascension and relevance in connecting our innovation to the world.

Seet’s announcement will rapidly change the landscape of the Los Alamos entrepreneurial and scientific community.

“We’ve talked to entrepreneurs, companies, scientists and investors, really anyone who would talk to us from different parts of the world,” Seet says. “What we learned was fascinating in how these economies transformed themselves, in how they built these sustainable eco-systems. Through this, we believe we’ve developed a thoughtful approach to continue to build on the work of so many people in our community. We are so excited about our future!”

Anyone interested in Los Alamos’ economic future is encouraged to attend, he said.

Ashok Rao, Seet’s business partner and the founder of several multi-million dollar global startups, is a key player in LAVA’s upcoming shift. His experiences turning technology into business applications at BioMedX will show LAVA a clear path to turn Los Alamos science into a scalable business applications, bringing in dollars and talent to Los Alamos. He will deliver his talk called The Entrepreneurial Journey to encourage our community to follow in his footsteps. During this talk, Rao will discuss hard lessons that he has learned growing his own businesses and give advice on how entrepreneurs can overcome institutional challenges and the fear of failure.

After the talk, Seet and Rao will answer any questions about LAVA’s dramatic change in direction, and how it will benefit the Los Alamos community.

Since July, LAVA has encouraged programs and education to the Los Alamos community, focused on entrepreneurial risk taking and connecting people in the  start-up community. In the upcoming year, LAVA’s execution plan will build upon the lessons learned and key observations of programs around the world to completely transform how we approach business and create wealth in Los Alamos.
