AAUW News:

The Los Alamos Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will sponsor a talk by Wildland Fire Division Chief Ramon Garcia titled “How is Los Alamos Preparing for Its Next Wildfire?” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at Mesa Public Library, Community Rooms 2 and 3. The talk is free and open to the public.

Garcia will present the existing wildfire management plans for protecting Los Alamos County and surrounding areas. Using maps, he will summarize work already done and projected future plans. The three fires of Cerro Grande (2000), Las Conchas (2011), and the Thompson Ridge Wildfire (2012) have taught important lessons.

Los Alamos Fire Chief Troy Hughes also will be present to answer questions and hear concerns.
