YMCA News:
The Family YMCA is hosting three Saturday morning basketball-skill sessions to help new players learn basic skills.
The fundamentals program will be led by Y volunteer coaches and run 9-11 a.m. Nov. 8, 15 and 22 in the YMCA gymnasium at 1450 Iris St. in Los Alamos.
The sessions are open to youth registered for the Y’s Youth Basketball Program, but potential basketball players are welcome to come check it out to see if they want to join. Sessions will be targeted toward youth who have little or no basketball experience and will focus on dribbling, passing, and shooting. Parents need to escort youth into the building and sign-in at the front desk.
The Youth Basketball Program is for 1st-6th graders and starts Dec 1. Cost is $100 / $75 for Y members. Register at the Y front desk by Nov 21. Scholarships are available.
