By Cathy Renee Stanhope and FamilyThe American Legion Post #75 in Jemez Springs shined Oct. 25 to honor my father, John Stanhope, WWII Veteran and to the other veterans who have served, and those serving now.
I would like give a special “thank you” to pastor David Whitley for the great passage to honor our dad; the Sons & Riders; Charles Bracken, who donated the briskets and Mark Hamilton, who smoked the briskets, – what a delicious brisket dinner; to Doc and Susan Minter who brought the fund raiser gifts; to Austin, who played country music in the afternoon (my family just loved hearing you sing); to the evening bands, The Project and Train Wreck who donated their tips to the new building fund and got people dancing; to Brian, Roseann, Vivian, Randy and Deb, Leeann, Don and Kathy, Corn and Ed, Peter, John, Ana, Terry, Misty, Racheal, Meranda, Betty Ann, the Cart Family – waving the American Flag as our family drove by; to all the post members, PRG and Riders, and volunteers that made this day special.
Thanks to everyone who donated toward the new American Legion building fund, which made us all so very proud to honor my father’s wishes. This was a great community event and we hope to do another fundraiser to honor our veterans in the future. Thank you so very much!
