ATOMIC TUMBLERS News:
Four teams competed Saturday, Oct. 11 in the New Mexico season opener for USA Gymnastics. High Altitude Athletics of Taos played host to Los Alamos, Rio Rancho, and Gold Cup of Albuquerque. Ninety – two gymnasts competed in the day’s activities.
Xcel Platinum Results:
Ashley Bustos, of Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers had the highest score of the day with a 36.75. Ashley competed in the Xcel Platinum division, the highest division in the meet. Besides taking the gold in the all-around, Ashley also took gold on uneven bars (9.30), and on the balance beam (9.05). Scores of 9.20 on both of the other events earned her a bronze on vault and a silver on Floor exercise.
Team mate Carley Stilwell, also competing in this division, took the silver all-around medal with a 35.10. Carley also took silver on vault (9.30) and bars (8.80), and bronze on the floor exercise (9.00).
The bronze all-around went to team mate Suyana Ferreira with a 35.00. Suyana also took the gold at vault (9.40), and tied for bronze on uneven bars with team mate Elyse Phillips (8.40). Elyse also took bronze on beam (8.50). Anna Clark won gold on floor (9.40) and silver on beam (8.70).
Xcel Gold Results:
Los Alamos was represented in the gold division this weekend by a lone gold competitor, Colleen Gurule. Colleen was golden on bars with a 9.10. She also took bronze on the vault (7.90).
Xcel Silver Results:
Kaeley Bustos won the silver division with a 35.40 all-around. Kaeley also took gold on floor (9.00) and beam (9.00). She took silver on bars (9.20).
Team mate Emilee Maestas took the silver all-around medal with 34.90. Emilee was golden on vault (8.50), and took silver on beam (8.90). Her 8.70 on the floor excercise added a bronze to her medal count.
Andrea Chapman took the gold on bars with 9.30 and bronze on the beam (8.70) to finish a Los Alamos sweep of that event.
Xcel Bronze Results:
Senior Division
Sarah Hutchens won the gold with a 35.10. Sarah also took gold on beam (9.40), silver on floor (8.60), and bronze on bars (8.80) and vault (8.30).
Hannah Clegg won the gold on floor (8.70) and the silver on vault (8.40).
Aria Warner took the gold on bars (9.00) and the silver on beam (9.30).
Junior Division
Deeanna Foster took bronze all-around with 34.25. Deeanna also took gold on bars (9.10) and bronze on floor (8.55).
Anika Lovato took silver on beam (9.20).
Children’s Division
Megan Brown won this division with 35.30. Megan also took gold on floor (8.70) and beam (9.3), adding to that silver on bars (9.00) and vault (8.30).
Alexandra (Sasha) Vinyard took bronze in the all-around with 35.15. She also placed first for gold on bars (9.10) and third for bronze on vault (8.1) and floor (8,50). Mia Nuckols took bronze on bars (8.85).
Danielle Trellue took bronze on beam (9.25).
Junior Olympic Compulsory Competition
Level 5
Anna Clark took silver on the beam (8.30).
Katie Wingo took bronze on the beam (8.575).
Level 4
Danielle Bellamy took silver on bars (9.00).
