Meet Rose and Brad Nyenhuis, avid runner and experienced mountain biker, owners of Fusion Multisport in downtown Los Alamos.
For years, this Indiana couple spent their vacations traveling throughout the west racing, adventuring, and scouting out mountain towns. In Los Alamos Rose and Brad found the perfect combination of mountain trails, wide open spaces, and friendly people. When they first visited in 2013 and announced their dream of moving west to open a bike and running shop, locals welcomed them with enthusiasm.
The idea behind Fusion Multisport was, however, more than just a business concept. Rose and Brad envisioned a community hub where outdoorsy people would gather for a cup of coffee, talking trails and sharing stories of their adventures. This dream has become a reality. Rose plans fun runs featuring guest speakers and athletes. Brad has quickly become a contributing member of the Los Alamos mountain biking and racing scene. The store has sponsored several local races and hosted packet pick-ups and planning meetings. The small seating area is the perfect spot to chat and enjoy coffee and baked goods from the Los Alamos Cooperative Market.
In its first year of operation, Fusion Multisport has become your go-to store for year round outdoor adventures. Making plans to hit the slopes? Get your skis in shape with a full wax and edge. Bring them in early to beat the rush. Been hitting it hard on the bike? Fusion’s professionally certified mechanic, Brad, is trained and ready for that complete tune up your bike deserves. Put in the running miles this season? How about coming in to try on the latest road and trail shoes? Are you a running newbie? Free gait analysis and training tips from a certified running coach will get you started at the perfect pace in the shoe that is just right for you. At Fusion Multisport, you’ll find excellent customer service, high quality performance running and cycling gear and apparel, climbing equipment, sports fuel and nutrition, physical therapy aids for when the going gets rough, and much, much more.
Fusion Multisport is proudly participating in Small Business Saturday Nov. 29. The store will raffle off prizes throughout the day and offer free Co-op coffee. And 5 percent of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the United Way. Come out on Small Business Saturday to celebrate one year of Fusion Multisport and make a difference by shopping local!
