Coleen Meyer, an experienced and passionate geocacher, will teach the ins-and-outs of playing the geocaching game from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 5 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
This free workshop will cover the history, lingo, equipment, and technology used for geocaching as well as what to look for and what to do once you find a cache, aside from a brief victory dance. A geocaching event will follow the workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Coleen Meyer has been geocaching since 2008. After hearing about the activity, her brother, niece, and nephew took her out to give it a try. Coleen was hooked from her first rain-soak find. Coleen currently has over 600 finds. She started a few caches around the Los Alamos area and has held 2 geocaching ‘events’ in town. In 2013, she helped a local Girl Scout troop earn their Geocaching badges.
This workshop will take place at the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road. It is free to attend, and no registration is required.
