LOS LUNAS – Albuquerque State Police uniformed officers located wanted felon Ronald Bierend Wednesday in the Bosque.

Bierend was wanted after state police conducted an investigation into allegations that he had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl, which was videotaped. He was wanted by state police for crimes of sexual exploitation of a child, criminal sexual penetration of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

State police received tips from the public of Bierend’s whereabouts after seeking assistance last month in locating him. Officers discovered Bierend living in a tent in a remote part of the Bosque along the Rio Grande between Los Lunas and Belen. When officers encountered Bierend, he surrendered without incident. He was arrested and booked in the Valencia County Detention Center.
