Kristine Coblentz And Lorraine Whalen Receive LAPS Excellence For Student Achievement Award

The Los Alamos Public School Board has recognized Kristine Coblentz and Lorraine Whalen with the LAPS Excellence for Student Achievement Award.

This annual award seeks to promote enhancement of student achievement and focus the Los Alamos School Board on efforts to improve student achievement. The nominee is a person in the Los Alamos School District who has made a significant difference in student achievement.

In March, Coblentz and Whalen were recognized for their efforts and achievements by the Board and presented plaques provided by the New Mexico School Boards Association.

Coblentz works with youth in Los Alamos through several highly successful Juvenile Justice Advisory Board programs including Girl’s Circle, The Art of Yoga, Boy’s Council, Mindfulness training, and the Arts and Resiliency programs. 

Whalen Whalen coordinates the Summer Credit Recovery program that provides students access to courseware and instructional content delivered on a state-of-the-art web platform during the summer months and allows them an opportunity to  get back on track for high school graduation and/or earning a high school diploma.
