By JOHN and JESS CULLINANCongratulations to the Olions on their successful production of Spamalot, and on their well deserved nominations for the inaugural Popejoy Awards.
It’s exciting to see the hard work and devotion of our talented youth pay off in such a rewarding way.
We note in the recent news coverage that many of the people who shared in the responsibility for the success of the production were not recognized, and knowing that theatre is first and foremost a collaborative art form, we think they should be mentioned:
- Jason Rutledge for his skillful musical direction;
- Patrick MacDonald for his marvelous choreography; and
- Chas Shay for all of his technical assistance.
Kudos, too, to all the students working behind the scenes and playing in the orchestra pit. It’s inspiring to see the collaboration between these professionals and the students lead to such success.
A special thank you, as well, to all the music and drama teachers out there who have touched the lives of these students and helped build them into who they are over the years – particularly Rachel Saxton, who led the Olions for the previous three years in successful and entertaining productions. We know we’re grateful for the part all these teachers have played in our own children’s lives.
Thanks to everyone for creating such a bright and enjoyable moment in the Los Alamos performing arts scene. And again, congratulations!
