BSMA News:

The Bradbury Science Museum Association (BSMA) thanks volunteers for their time and dedication to the association’s mission by serving museum customers in the BSMA’s gift shop, called Gadgets.

The BSMA’s mission of providing STEM education opportunities for all ages is supported by the proceeds from merchandise sold through the Gadgets Gift Shop which is located inside the museum.

The BSMA volunteers are dedicated community members and shared their reasons for volunteering with the BSMA:

Alison Moore serves on the Aquatomics Board of Directors and is active with her son in Boy Scouts as the training coordinator for Troop 22. “I love giving back to the community and seeing the children and families who come visit, helping them purchase a little something to take Los Alamos and the Bradbury Science Museum with them.”

Lindsey Fullop finds time to volunteer for the BSMA between her teaching assignments as a substitute science teacher in the Los Alamos schools. “I enjoy volunteering with the BSMA because I want to support their mission of educational outreach with an emphasis on STEM. I am happy to give a few hours a week to help students of northern New Mexico!”

Ronaele Freestone is retired from the Lab and enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, is very active in her church and finds time to volunteer at the Los Alamos Senior Center. “The Lab was a big part of my life for 21 years. It’s a privilege to share the wonders of the Lab’s work with our northern New Mexico students and worldwide visitors by supporting the BSMA through volunteering at the gift shop in the museum.”

Shari Foley is a Master Gardener through the New Mexico State University Extension office. “My other volunteer job is Master Gardener, so I wanted something to do inside. I really enjoy volunteering at the BSMA gift shop because of all the diverse people that work there and talking with all of the museum visitors and listening to their stories.”

Suranjana Basu (Reema) enjoys her volunteer time and also helps at the Mesa Public Library. “I am happy to volunteer. I am proud of the work that BSMA is doing. BSMA is a non-profit organization that sells items without charging tax and they use the funds to help children learn science”

Ann Lane is active in the community by volunteering with multiple organizations including the United Church Thrift Shop and the White Rock Senior Center. “I want the children in other areas to be able to come to the museum to learn more about the history of this state. My daughter teaches gifted students in Tennessee and she would love this for her students!”

Pam Sutton splits her time between the History Museum and the Bradbury Science Museum. “I enjoy volunteering at the Gadgets Gift Shop in the Bradbury Science Museum because I enjoy talking with visitors from around the world.”

The BSMA seeks more volunteers to fill 2-hour shifts throughout the week including Saturday and Sunday. The Bradbury Science Museum is open 7-days a week and the BSMA hopes to have the Gadgets Gift Shop open for museum visitors every day of the week.
