Letter To The Editor: Thank You Los Alamos County Council

By JAMES ROBINSON
Los Alamos

On Tuesday, I got the privilege to once again participate in the selection of a new member for the Board of Public Utilities.

Although I was not selected I wanted to personally thank Chair Izraelevitz, Vice-Chair O’Leary, Councilor Chrobocinski, Councilor Sheehey, Councilor Reiss, Councilor Chandler, and Councilor Maggiore for their kind words and tough questions.

I especially like to thank Vice Chair O’Leary and Councilor Chrobocinski for voicing their support for my nomination during the first round of voting. I have worked with both these councilors outside of the council, and I am continually amazed at their dedication to Los Alamos County.

I would also like to thank my fellow candidates. We each brought a different skill set to the table, and presented a hard challenge for the council. We definitely didn’t make it easy for them.

The process for choosing a new board member for the Board of Public Utilities is not an easy one, and nor should it be. Much like the council, the board serves a very important role in the community, and the level of attention the council pays to appointing its members is commendable. I would encourage everyone to try it once, or if you are feeling up to it, three times like myself.

In closing, I would again send out thanks to the Council, the DPU staff and all the others that work hard everyday to keep Los Alamos running. You all often work behind the scenes and out of the spotlight, but deserve credit for keeping the lights on and the county running. Thank you.
