This month’s League of Women Voter’s community event, Lunch with a Leader, is 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 in Mesa Public Library.
This month’s leader is Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard (SGR), a Los Alamos League member. She has been District 43’s representative, which includes Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe and Sandoval counties since 2012.
SGR will discuss three sessons of the Legislature. The first is the Special Session called last fall, then the regular 60-day session, and finally the last Special Session in May. She will go over the high and low points in the session, discuss bills she promoted and answer questions.
SGR was born in Silver City and went to college at Barnard/Columbia. She and husband Eric Vasquez moved with their daughters, Nica and Elia to Los Alamos to take advantage of the outstanding public schools here. While the girls attended school, SGR taught 3rd grade in Pojoaque. She is the science coordinator for Pablo Roybal Elementary School and busy finishing her master’s degree in school administration.
