COUNTY News:
A subcommittee of the County Council’s ad hoc Tourism Master Plan/ Economic Development Strategic Plan Steering Committee (now known as “Tourism Work Group”) is being created to continue the work of the prior Manhattan Project National Historical Park Committee.
The County is looking for representatives from Los Alamos or White Rock who are interested in serving on this Sub-Committee. Members will be appointed by the Tourism Work Group Chair Susan O’Leary.
The purpose of the Sub-Committee is to provide local guidance and perspective to the National Park Service and its partners as it develops and implements the Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Additionally, the Sub-Committee will advise the Tourism Work Group on the challenges and opportunities associated with the development of this park within Los Alamos.
Applicants wishing to be considered for appointment to the Sub-Committee are asked to send an email or letter to Linda Matteson, the County Manager’s Project Manager, with their name, address, phone number and e-mail address, along with their employer (if applicable) and any civic organizations or relevant project background. In addition, they are asked to submit information about “why” they would like to serve on the Sub-Committee. Letters may be e-mailed to linda.matteson@lacnm.us or hand-carried to the County Manager’s Office (1000 Central Ave., Suite 350, inside the Municipal Building). The deadline for letters of interest is 5 p.m. Monday, July 24.
The Sub-Committee will be comprised of no more than 15 members and is expected to meet monthly. It will be led by a Sub-Committeec chair selected by the sub-committee members; as well as by the County manager’s project manager who will be dedicated full-time to guide the work of the Sub-Committee, coordinate with the Tourism Work Group, and coordinate with others at the local, state and federal government level.
All Sub-Committee meetings will be open to the public.
