SANTA FE ― Meow Wolf has joined New Mexico’s best builders and architects to create its own special custom playhouse for the New Mexico Appleseed Parade of Playhouses Gala Friday, Aug. 25, at the Albuquerque BioPark Botanic Garden.
Each team has constructed a playhouse to be auctioned off—or raffled off in the case of the Meow Wolf version—at the gala to support New Mexico Appleseed’s work that addresses the root causes of poverty through systemic change.
Prior to the gala, Meow Wolf’s strikingly whimsical playhouse will be on display in Santa Fe starting July 19 through Aug. 24 in the lobby area of House of Eternal Return at 1352 Rufina Circle where supporters can purchase raffle tickets of $10 each and 15 for $100. Raffle and gala tickets are also available at www.paradeofplayhouses.com.
“Appleseed and Meow Wolf are exactly what’s right about New Mexico,” said Jennifer Ramo, New Mexico Appleseed’s Executive Director. “Innovation and excellence with a national impact. The playhouse is a great start to what we hope is a long partnership making New Mexico a better place for all.”
Last year’s event raised nearly $175,000 in support of New Mexico Appleseed’s critical mission of ending poverty in New Mexico.
“Given Meow Wolf’s love of building creative structures, creating fun things for kids to see and do, and the collective’s strong sense of commitment to greater prosperity in New Mexico, this project with New Mexico Appleseed has been a blast for us,” said Meow Wolf Project Manager & Artist Wylla Skye. “The organization’s national leadership in lunch shaming, which made the cover of the New York Times while we were constructing the playhouse, is an inspiration and a great example of our home state’s potential for lasting social progress and change.”
