Evening Programs At Bandelier Aug. 3-20

In between thunderstorms, it’s great to be out under the stars on August evenings, and Bandelier will be offering many evening programs over the next two weeks. 
 
They’re presented at the amphitheater at Juniper Campground, weather permitting, and both campers and non-campers are welcome.  
 
Upcoming topics include: 
  • 8:30 p.m. Thursday, 8/3  Night Sky – talk and telescope viewing 
  • 8:30 p.m. Friday, 8/4  Leaping Lizards!  (reptiles)  
  • 8:30 p.m. Saturday, 8/5  Imagining Wilderness    
  • 8 p.m. Sunday 8/6  Songs of the Night (night sounds)  
  • 8 p.m. Monday 8/7  Wildfire (Bandelier fire history)  
  • 8 p.m. Thursday 8/10  Night Sky – talk and telescope viewing 
  • 8 p.m. Friday, 8/11  Fabric of Frijoles Canyon  (Ancestral Pueblo weaving)  
  • Saturday, 8/12  Leaping Lizards  (reptiles)
  • 8 p.m. Sunday, 8/13  Wildfire  (Bandelier fire history)   
  • 8 p.m. Monday, 8/1  Songs of the Night  (night sounds)  
 
In addition, on weekends there will be craftspeople from local Pueblos demonstrating their work on the back porch of the Visitor Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  They will include:
  • Aug. 5 and 6  Tomás Herrera, Cochiti Pueblo, drumming and drum making
  • Aug. 12 and 13  Priscilla Nieto and Harvey Abeyta, Santo Domingo Pueblo, jewelry and flintknapping
  • Aug. 19 and 20  Caroline Lovato, Santo Domingo Pueblo, jewelry and turkey feather blankets
