There is still time to take a class with instructor and artist Lisa Coddington. Her last fall drawing and painting workshop is 20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Los Alamos Nature Center. This class, made possible by Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), will focus on drawing colorful and intricate autumn leaves.
Participants will explore making color charts and creating their own colorful leaves. Coddington will show how layers of transparent colors make beautiful leaves and share techniques for creating vein detail. The class also covers use of paint to bring the subject to life on the page, including glazing.
Coddington earned her Master of Art in Illustration at Syracuse University. She has illustrated a children’s book and has received commissions by regional and national firms for her artwork and art instruction. Her whimsical characters have been licensed for ornaments, featured on greeting cards and applied to home textiles for major retailers.
She has exhibited at SURTEX Licensing show in New York City for seven years, and she is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists. Coddington has been instructing for more than 10 years, and teaches at Santa Fe Community College. She also leads specialized art retreats around New Mexico and the U.S.

This class is $50, or $40 for PEEC members, which also includes a resource list and supportive handouts.
