PAJARITO PLAYERS News:
Pajarito Players is seeking actors and actresses for a staged reading to take place February 2018 in Los Alamos and White Rock.
The reading will be of the play Still in the Game by Los Alamos playwright Robert Benjamin. Parts of the play have been performed previously in productions by the Los Alamos Little Theatre. The full play was performed this summer at Teatro Paraguas in Santa Fe.
A staged reading involves no set and only minimal, if any movement; the actors have scripts at hand and interact with one another through gestures and expressions.
A staged reading is ideal for anyone interested in getting started in theater but who may not be ready or have time for the rigor of a full production requiring complete memorization of lines, rehearsed movements and complete makeup, said Patricia Beck, one of the founding members of Pajarito Players.
Still in the Game is described as a family drama about caregiving and aging whose characters display grace, courage and humor. The AARP has commissioned an abbreviated version of the play for presentation at an upcoming conference in Denver.
Anyone interested in taking part in or learning more about the staged reading for Still in the Game should contact Beck by email at pdbeck@aol.com.
Pajarito Players is an informal troupe of theater enthusiasts that formed to present a staged reading of Farm Hall in association with the Los Alamos Historical Society. The troupe primarily focuses on staged readings in support of New Mexico playwrights, but also came together for a performance of Spies in conjunction with the 2016 ScienceFest in Los Alamos. The troupe is inclusive and open to interested persons of any level of ability.
