COMMUNITY News:
At 5 p.m. Nov. 8, award-winning photographer Phillip Noll will offer a walkthrough of his exhibit, “The Four Corners: A Photographic Exhibition,” at The Karen Wray Gallery.
Phillip Noll
Noll’s photography exhibition runs through Nov. 19. It includes a portfolio of two decades worth of images representing “The Four Corners.”
The photographs capture the beauty of places like White Sands, the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. When you walk through the exhibit, you may wonder how he captured the motion of the water, or the brilliance of the golden leaves of the cottonwoods in the floor of the canyon, or the jeweled green of the water, or the unearthly blue and purple light bouncing off the sandstone walls of the canyon.
During this casual presentation, Noll will discuss each image and answer any question you may have about nature photography.
Noll has been photographing nature and the landscape for more than 35 years. His photographs have won several awards in international competitions and have been published in several magazines including Outdoor Photographer, Arizona Highways, Landscape Photography Magazine, Backpacker Magazine and Nature’s Best Photography.
One of Noll’s photos was on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., September 2014 through the summer of 2015. He also created the large floor-to-ceiling backdrops for the displays at the Los Alamos Nature Center. He shoots exclusively with digital cameras made by Sony and Canon.
The community is invited to the nature photography Q&A with Phillip Noll 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at The Karen Wray Gallery, 1247 Central Ave., Suite D-2.
