Warrants Issued For Bayless and Schwenk

Court News:

Two of three women arrested Aug. 29 by Los Alamos Police Sgt. Andrew Goldie on drug-related charges now have warrants from Los Alamos Magistrate Court for their arrest following their failure to appear for hearings before Judge Pat Casados.

Esperanza Bayless, 28, of Grants failed to appear Friday morning on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended or revoked license and failure to use a turn signal.

A warrant was issued for Haley Schwenk, 18, also of Grants, who failed to appear Sept. 27 on charges of concealing her identity, use of drug paraphernalia and trafficking of a controlled substance.

The third woman arrested at the same time, Cherie Trujillo, 26, of Los Alamos faces a preliminary hearing Dec. 1 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The three women were arrested just hours after an incident in which LAPD Cpl. Robert Larsen fired a shot at a vehicle driven by two men who had fled Smith’s Marketplace after shoplifting there.

Bayless told Sgt. Goldie she was trying to make contact with one of the men, Stephen Montano. The other man, Joel Martin waived his preliminary hearing Friday and was bound over to District Court on multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer and fleeing from law enforcement.
