COURT News:
A pretrial hearing has been set for Dec. 8 in Los Alamos Magistrate Court for Jeremy Gutierrez, 32, of Espanola. Gutierrez was arrested Oct. 31 and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
Los Alamos Police Department Dispatch had received several calls about a reckless driver near the Los Alamos Airport and with the help of a caller who was on the phone with Dispatch, located Gutierrez’s car on Central Avenue. Court documents indicate that after Gutierrez was pulled over, Sgt. Monica Salazar-Casias noticed his eyes were watery and slightly red. She asked Gutierrez if he had had anything to drink and he responded that he doesn’t drink.
Salazar-Casias then conducted field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested Gutierrez for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs. While searching Gutierrez prior to transporting him, LAPD Cpl. David Boe found a container of blue pills, which Gutierrez first claimed were Aleve but later admitted were Valium for which he did not have a prescription.
