Governor Susana Martinez Proclaims Jan. 21-27 ‘New Mexico School Choice Week’

SANTA FE  An official proclamation from Gov. Martinez, has named next week School Choice Week in New Mexico. Dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide have issued similar proclamations.
 
New Mexicans have planned 253 events and activities to celebrate school choice and raise awareness of the variety of educational options available in the state. They’re part of the more than 32,000 rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, etc. that have been planned across the country.
 
“New Mexico parents, like parents everywhere, simply want the best for their kids – no exceptions,” Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week said. “We’re grateful to Gov. Martinez for issuing this proclamation. We hope New Mexico parents will find the best educational options for their kids this year and every year.”
 
Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
