The Apple Hill String Quartet will host a one-day residency featuring a free master class 3:30-5 p.m. and a gala concert 7-8:30 p.m. March 22 in Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos.
 
Called “dashing and extraordinary” by Strad Magazine, the Apple Hill String Quartet has earned praise around the world for its concerts that present interpretive mastery of traditional repertoire, neglected masterpieces, and music from around the world, as well as world premieres and commissioned pieces. As resident musicians at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in rural Nelson, NH, the quartet serves as the artistic curators and core faculty for Apple Hill’s Summer Chamber Music Workshop. In conjunction with Apple Hill’s Playing for Peace Program, the quartet performs concerts and conducts residencies around the globe.
 
Apple Hill String Quartet’s concert program will include music of Haydn, Garrido-Lecca, and Joan Tower, with special guest musician, Pamela Epple.
 
The Los Alamos Arts Council and Serenata of Santa Fe are sponsoring the residency.
 
Concert admission at the door is $20, $10 for students age 8-17 with ID and $15 for Los Alamos Arts Council, Los Alamos Concert Association, Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra and Los Alamos Community Winds members.
