WinterFest Weekend is just around the corner. The family-oriented events are Dec. 7-9 at numerous places throughout downtown Los Alamos.
WinterFest kicks off the holiday season with events including the North Pole Workshop and Breakfast with Santa. Other highlights include the Fuller Lodge Open House, Crèche Show and Earth Treasure Show. The Fuller Lodge Art Center also will hold its Affordable Arts Sale.
The big event is the MainStreet Holiday Lights Parade and the Tree Lighting at Ashley Pond.

Saturday, Dec. 8
Kiwanis of Los Alamos’ Breakfast with Santa
7-11 a.m. at Betty Ehart Senior Center
50th Annual Earth Treasure Show
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Masonic Temple, at Canyon Road and 15th Street. Come out for exhibits, a silent auction, kids crafts, as well as gems, minerals, jewelry and books for sale. Free admission.

Santoro Music Studio Holiday Piano Recital

North Pole Workshop
3:30-5:30 p.m. Fuller Lodge Upstairs Classroom. Children can enjoy cookie decorating, making a holiday craft, and photos with Santa and his elves.
Lighting of the Holiday Tree & Music
5-6 p.m. Municipal Building Lobby. Listen to holiday music performed courtesy of Coro de Camara from 5-5:30 p.m., with the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Cookies and hot cocoa will also be available, alongside a Festive Photo Booth with winter-themed props. This free event is sponsored by Los Alamos County Council.

8th Annual Holiday Prism Concert
7 p.m. Crossroads Bible Church. Presented by Los Alamos Community Winds, with performances by Coro de Camara, Los Alamos Flutes, The Quemazon Brass, Rene LeClair, and much more. This is a free concert, but suggested $10 donation per guest. More information at LACW.org.
Sunday, Dec. 9
Alternative Giving Fair
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church. An opportunity for local non-profits to raise money, raise awareness, or recruit volunteers. It also will provide members of the community an opportunity to purchase non-tangible items for loved ones for the holidays.
50th Annual Earth Treasure Show
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Masonic Temple, at Canyon Road and 15th Street. Come out for exhibits, a silent auction, kids crafts, as well as gems, minerals, jewelry and books for sale. Free admission.
Celtic Christmas, Irish Dance
1:30 p.m. Fuller Lodge. Performance by the Belisama Irish dancers. This is a free event, but donations will be accepted. Light snacks will be provided.
