Los Alamos Police officers responded late this morning in White Rock to reports of an intoxicated and despondent man who may have had access to firearms.

Police Cmdr. Preston Ballew told the Los Alamos Daily Post that police have located the man and he has been transported to the Los Alamos Medical Center where he is undergoing evaluation.

Both Chamisa and Pinon elementary schools were placed on lockdown as a safety precaution during the incident, Cmdr. Ballew said.
