WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association of Counties (NACo) will convene its annual Legislative Conference March 2-6.
Nearly 2,000 elected and appointed county officials from across the country will focus on pressing federal policy issues facing county governments.
Attendees will hear from national experts, consider policy resolutions and meet with administration officials and members of Congress.

Reimagining County Behavioral Health Crisis Response Systems and Policies (Monday, March 4, 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., Washington Hilton Hotel, Lincoln East, Concourse Level) will present engagement strategies counties are using to build regional and state support to redesign crisis response systems in partnership with the Laura and John Arnold Foundation.
Understanding FEMA’s New Policy Guidelines Before Disasters Hit (Tuesday, March 4, 1:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET, Washington Hilton Hotel, Columbia Room 6 & 8, Terrace Level) will feature representatives from FEMA to discuss imminent pre-hazard mitigation rule changes following the passage of the Disaster Recovery Act, including funding eligibility and potential codes and standards requirements.
Additional workshops will focus on local efforts to reach young children, revitalizing community through the arts, connecting federal and county systems of care and a Smarter Counties Summit focused on how county governments can use “design thinking” to further their technology solutions, among many others.
