New Mexico State Auditor Brian Colón
STATE News:
New Mexico State Auditor Brian Colón and members of Team OSA will hit the road beginning Wednesday, March 19 for its annual, statewide Audit Rule Roadshow.
Each year the Office of the State Auditor (OSA) embarks on a statewide tour to provide training to governmental agency employees and independent public accountant (IPA) firm representatives to provide training on significant and critical updates to the Audit Rule. This year, Auditor Colón and Team OSA will visit six cities across the state: Las Vegas, Las Cruces, Portales, Farmington, Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. Dates and how you can register for the training can be found on the OSA website at https:////www.saonm.org/register_form.
“Our vision for the next four years is Accountability, Transparency and Excellence and I believe education is key in taking proactive measures to fight fraud, waste, and abuse statewide,” said Auditor Colón “I’m so excited to hit the road with Team OSA to deliver important information on the Audit Rule to our stakeholders. We want to be partners and collaborators with our stakeholders to provide the best possible information and serve as a tool for better government.”
Auditor Colón has invited distinguished guests from each stop on the tour to provide opening remarks at the training to be followed by Auditor Colón delivering a State of the OSA address, and will conclude with high-level training on the audit process, updates to the Audit Rule, and other technical auditing topics. The OSA recommends that each agency and IPA firm send appropriate personnel to the Audit Rule training. Representatives of the governing authority, top management, contracting personnel and employees of the finance division are encouraged to attend. Agencies will need to register online at https:////www.saonm.org/register_form for one of the free training sessions. The Santa Fe training will have a morning and afternoon session to accommodate attendees. Each person in attendance may earn up to 3 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credit for attending the Audit Rule training.
