Melanie Colgan filed as a candidate for School Board to serve the Barranca and North Mesa communities (District 4) this afternoon at the Los Alamos Municipal Building. Colgan has five chidren in the Los Alamos schools and has been an active volunteer with the school district. Now she would like to expand her role to include making policy as a member of the School Board, Colgan said. Colgan teaches the Certified Nursing Assistant program at UNM-Los Alamos and is an assistant professor of nursing at Northern New Mexico College. “I would bring a unique perspective on what’s needed for students to succeed after high school to the School Board,” Colgan said.
