LAAC Brown Bag: Charles & Anderson Wednesday

LAAC News:

Noon Wednesday at Fuller Lodge, the Los Alamos Arts Council hosts local artists Joy Charles and Aaron Anderson, for the lunchtime Brown Bag Performance Series Charles and Anderson will play a collection of works.

The audience will be treated to jazz, folk, pop and classical music. Audience members will even be treated to some Sinatra, Panic! At the disco, Beethoven and some music from the TV show, “Game of Thrones.”

Anderson has played piano in concert halls and bars (some with actual people in the audience) all over the Mountain West for more than 20 years. He plays a lot of jazz, rock and blues. Charles has played cello with some very cute barn yard animals. She plays a lot of classical music.

Five years ago, a couple needed a pianist and a cellist to play for their wedding, and thus began a fruitful collaboration and the unique Anderson-Joy sound. The duo takes songs that Anderson n likes and songs that Charles likes, and put them together as a way to coerce the other into playing them. Usually it works out to form some kind of pleasing musical expression.

By combining their different musical backgrounds, choosing music from a wide range of styles, and applying unique arrangements, they bring out the best in each other and in a song.

Los Alamos Arts Council invites the community to come during the lunch hour. Audience members are encouraged to bring their lunch from any of the fabulous local establishments, or bring something from home, and enjoy a superb performance.

The Los Alamos Arts Council, a 501c3 non-profit corporation and public charity has been supporting creative arts activities in Los Alamos for more than 50 years. For more information, visit www.losalamosartscouncil.org or call 505.663.0477.
