Chef Laurence Pena and the team at Chartwells Food Services and volunteers, provided 4,496 meals for children Friday to cover them through the weekend.

Chartwells and Los Alamos Public Schools are participating in the Free Emergency Meals program for any child 18 and under. The program includes both a breakfast and lunch meal distribution twice a week.

Meals are packaged together for one single distribution. Friday meals are packaged for use on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Tuesday meals cover Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Meals may be picked up curbside 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Friday at Aspen Elementary, noon to 1 p.m. at Piñon Elementary and noon to 1 p.m. at Chamisa Elementary.
