Los Alamos High School Senior Kaley Muller To Attend NMHU

Los Alamos High School senior Kaley (Kay) Muller is a well-rounded student who loves her family, creating art, fly fishing, cheerleading and shooting her shotgun.

During her time at LAHS, she participated as a cheerleader for three years and served as cheer captain of the squad her senior year. She also participated in the Los Alamos Young Guns Competitive Shooting Team in trap and skeet shooting. 

Academically, Kay was very involved in the LAHS DECA business program, ending her senior year with two major events:

  • Hosting “Paws for Books” community event that raises books and funds for libraries in Africa; and
  • Bringing home the first-place medal for LAHS at the Deca State competition, qualifying her for Nationals. 

Her hard work and dedication in her studies have earned her many local scholarships including:

  • The Aspen School Alumni Scholarship;
  • The Irene Boone Memorial Scholarship;
  • The Knights of Columbus – Scholarship & Community Service Recognition Award;
  • The Rotary Club of Los Alamos – Great Expectations Scholarship; and
  • The Los Alamos Public Schools Credit Union Scholarship.

Kay has named Los Alamos High School Science teacher Mrs. Bowden as the teacher who has been the most influential in her life. 

Kay will be headed to New Mexico Highlands University in the fall where she plans to pursue studies in Social Work. 

Kay is the daughter of Amanda Leibee and granddaughter of KJ Leibee and David and Leni Smith of Los Alamos.
