Christian Science Society News:
Activities will resume at the new church home of the Christian Science Society and Christian Scientist Reading Room at 800 Trinity Dr., Suite G in Mari Mac shopping center once renovations are complete and state and local social distancing guidelines allow.
In response to social distancing requirements, and until the facility is renovated, in-person services and meetings are suspended. Anyone who would like to attend meetings via Zoom may do so by calling 636.399.1597.
Christian Scientists have met for services in Los Alamos since the early days of the Secret City. In the 1950s, they organized as a church and later purchased the building used during the Manhattan Project as the WAC dormitory at 1725 17th St., for its services and reading room. It’s one of only two original structures left from Manhattan Project days. The church reorganized as a society in the 2000s.
In 2019, the group sold the historic property to Los Alamos County and purchased 800 Trinity Dr., Suite G. Meetings were then held at Fuller Lodge until Los Alamos County closed the facility due to social distancing restrictions.
