The state of New Mexico announced today a tiered ‘Red to Green’ system for counties in the next phase of COVID-19 response (link). The system adopts the same gating criteria previously used to determine county eligibility for in-person instruction in public schools: (1) Average daily cases below 8 per 100,000 residents, and (2) test positivity rate below 5 percent. The ‘Red to Green’ framework consists of three risk designations: (a) RED, high daily cases and high test positivity, (b) YELLOW, high daily cases and low test positivity, (c) GREEN, low daily cases and low test positivity. Los Alamos County is currently in the YELLOW zone, but all the remaining 32 counties in the state are in the RED zone. Source: New Mexico Department of Health. Map: mapchart.net.
