Ark And Señor Tortas Team Up For Fundraiser Friday

Ark News:

Here’s an amazing way to support two local business and our communities’ families.

Señor Tortas food truck will be giving 20 percent of all proceeds received 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday to the Ark Child Development Center.

Funds that are raised will be used to purchase new learning materials for the Ark classrooms. Direct questions to the Ark at 505.662.4822.

The Ark was closed March through May of 2020 and has been operating again since June of 2020 with restrictions from the NMDOH and ECECD. After Spring Break, the Ark was able to return to its FOCUS 3-Star ratios in the classrooms. Like most organizations, the Ark continues to do a health screen before children are allowed in the building.

Starting in June the Ark will be returning to its 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. normal hours of operation.

“Since we are the Ark, all of our classrooms are named after animals”, Director Tamryn Clancy said. “Last fall we created a Giraffe class to be a K-6 learning pod during the public school closure. During both fully remote and hybrid schedules, we had a certified teacher leading the elementary school program. Our teachers collaborated with the students’ public school teachers as well as parents to provide consistent structure for our students in the Giraffe learning pod. This summer we will have our school age Giraffe class open to children up to age 12 providing hands-on experiences that contribute to physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual growth. Last summer we were not able to have the kids go on field trips but this summer we are planning field trips again especially for our Elephants, Foxes and Giraffe classes (ages 4-12).”

The Ark would like to thank Señor Tortas for their support of the Ark and Los Alamos, Clancy said.

“We look forward to supporting Señor Tortas food truck on Friday, May 21 and we hope to see you all there!” she said.

The Ark is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, community members may make tax-deductible donations at firstinyourheart.org/Ark.
