Kaity Burke with her two 2021 graduating senior yard signs. Burke took a Super Senior year to get another year of JROTC at Los Alamos High School, before graduating this month. Burke also is a member of Los Alamos Girl Scout Troop 116 and proudly displays her Gold Award sign. She earned her Gold Award last November, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her accomplishment was not recognized until now. The five remaining members of Troop 116 also have earned their Gold Award. The troop started together in kindergarten and continued through high school. The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA, earned by Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts. Only 5.4 percent of eligible Girl Scouts successfully earn the Gold Award.
