Head Teller Dorothy Martinez of the Los Alamos Branch of Enterprise Bank & Trust is happy that the bank lobby is now open for customers.
“We’ve been pretty busy, but it’s really nice to interact with the customers again,” she said. “The customers have been really cooperative about wearing masks in the lobby.”
Martinez started in banking 22 years ago and has built a career at Enterprise.
“I enjoy meeting new people and I’ve also gotten to know a lot of my customers, she said. “I also really enjoy my coworkers at the bank.”
Martinez has advanced at the bank, first as a teller trainer, then as head teller several years ago. She said that she likes being out front with the customers rather than alone in an office.
“It’s more responsibility,” Martinez said. “I do oversight of new tellers and oversee the approval of some transactions. I’m always learning something new, which keeps it interesting. I’m always willing to take on a challenge and learn new skills.”
Tellers have a lot on their plates. They process deposits, withdrawals, cashier’s checks, money orders and much more, Martinez said, adding that tellers handle over-the-counter transactions and mail-in deposits as well.
Liddie Martinez, president of Los Alamos Region and director of community engagement at Enterprise Bank & Trust commends her head teller’s work ethic.
“I was delighted to see Dorothy standing behind the Teller’s Window when I joined the bank in 2016,” Martinez said. “I’ve known her since we were in middle school. She is meticulous in her work and has been delivering exceptional customer service in our lobby for over two decades. We are so glad she is part of our team.”
Martinez said the most challenging thing about her job is dealing with unhappy customers.
“I try my best to resolve conflicts that arise between tellers and customers,” she said. “Sometimes people just need to know someone higher up the ladder takes their concerns seriously.”
Martinez and her family live in Chimayo on land that was a gift from her husband’s family. Her two children, a daughter and a son grew up there.
“I’ve been blessed with two wonderful kids,” she said.
“I really enjoy my job,” Martinez said. “Enterprise is an awesome employer.”
