Lane Drop On N.M. 4 At E. Jemez Road Begins Wednesday

COUNTY News:

Beginning Wednesday, RMCI, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU), will close the right turn lane for southbound traffic on N.M. 4 at the East Jemez Road intersection.

The lane closure will continue for one to two weeks in support of a 16-inch water line replacement project.

Motorists will still be able to turn right onto East Jemez from the center lane. Traffic delays should be anticipated.

RMCI crews will establish a bore pit in the southbound shoulder, which will be protected by a barrier wall that encroaches into the right turn lane. Crews will then bore from west to east under N.M. 4 just north of the East Jemez intersection.

This project replaces a water transmission line to connect the new Otowi 2 drinking water well and treatment building ahead of the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s road rehabilitation project.

DPU staff remind motorists to reduce speed, obey posted signs and use extreme caution in the area. Directed to the Customer Care Center at 505.662.8333 or CustomerCare@lacnm.us.
