Susan Eddings Perez Gallery Presents: Opening Reception Friday Dec. 17 4-7 p.m. with mocktails + holiday treats. 717 Canyon Rd. Santa Fe, NM 87501 www.susaneddingsperez.com
The second show in one year for artist Alison Hixon is everything you would expect and more. Heartfelt realizations and revelations of herself are shared intimately and deeply in this new body of work.
Selected works for her one-woman show “Labyrinths” represent the ongoing stages of finding one’s way through the irregular networks, passages, and paths of life.
Hixon shares, “When we focus on the journey it brings attention to aid the consciousness. What matters most is the drama of all the possibilities and impossibilities.”
Hixon is a self-taught artist whose work features a range of illustrations, paintings, and stained glass mosaics. After receiving her BFA in performing arts at Stephens College in Columbia, MO she lived and worked in Chicago as an actor in theatre and film while pursuing painting and illustration from her small studio apartment.
Her visual work is a colorful commentary on her journey through life which channel themes of self-identity, sexuality, coming of age, and the emotional turmoils of being a young woman.

Hixon’s work and the aptly titled show “labyrinths” scream emotional intelligence and vulnerability.
