Letter To The Editor: Covid Test Discrimination

By TINA SZYMANSKI

Today I saw a man turned away from the Curative Covid Testing Van because he couldn’t bring up the electronic appointment confirmation on his old cell phone. He stalked off with a comment about being sorry he didn’t have the “fancy technology all these lab people have and maybe I should just die”.
He had every right to be furious and Los Alamos should be ashamed.
As a past library employee I know there are plenty of people in this community who do not have smart phones or even computers of their own and rely upon public access. To make a basic healthcare need (in a pandemic no less) dependent upon personal technology is disgusting and beneath this community.
The council must take this into consideration when assessing testing options going forward.
